Abstract

In this article, using qualitative econometrics, we studied the effects of climate change on household incomes in Africa. The results show that climate change has a negative effect on household incomes in Africa. Indeed, according to our results, the variables "drought" and "flood" have significant coefficients that influence the probability of having a cash income. These coefficients help to understand how each variable affects the likelihood of having cash income for a given household. For each unit increase in the "drought" variable, the cash income odds decrease by an average of 0.0399006. Households affected by drought have a slightly lower likelihood of having cash income. The odds of cash income decreases on average by 0.0414263, for each increase of one unit in the “flood” variable.
