The Sô-Ava municipality is facing several environmental and health risks that weaken populations. The methodological approach adopted is based on data collection, real-world investigations, data processing and analysis of results using the ICEG model.
The results obtained show that the main activities, the factors of degradation of the vegetation cover, the effect of chemical pesticides and the poor state of health of the populations are the main factors of environmental and health risks in the Commune of Sô-Ava. The risks of aches and pains in the hip are the discomfort associated with the use of agricultural equipment. In addition, the risks associated with the inhalation of chemicals have a negative impact on the health of the population of the Municipality of Sô-Ava. Malaria remains the first disease affecting the population of the Sô-Ava Commune with 3,056 severe cases and 24,300 confirmed simple cases. Then comes respectively the IRA with 5 272 cases of low infections, and 4 242 high, diarrhea with 572 cases with dehydration and 1 291 febrile cases. For this reason, the districts of Ahomey-Lokpo, Ahomey-Glon, Dékanmè and Sô-Ava are the most affected by environmental risks, while the districts of Ganvié I and Ganvié II are the most affected by health risks. Reinforcement measures such as the use of recommended clothing for phytosanitary treatment, The intensive use of biological pesticides and the adoption of a sustainable environmental and health risk management framework are proposed for better management of these risks in the Municipality of So-Ava.
