This study analyzes flood management in Cameroon’s Far North, particularly in response to the Logone and Chari river floods. It evaluates current strategies (dikes, early warning systems, ecosystem-based approaches), identifies key shortcomings (poor coordination, ecosystem degradation, poorly maintained infrastructure), and proposes suitable solutions. In the short term, it recommends strengthening early warning systems and awareness programs. In the medium and long term, it advocates for restoring natural ecosystems, improving urban planning, and promoting decentralized governance to enhance community resilience.
